When change becomes an imperative and the search for new openings becomes increasingly urgent, the thirst for knowledge, the need to act quickly and ahead of time, it is then that Myth unleashes its creative force and makes itself known.

These words were the inspiration behind the international “Wine Mythology Label” competition. Mythology became part of Domìni Veneti when the “Lo sguardo al futuro” exhibition was held at the winery in 2013. The exhibition showcased the works of Raffaella Robustelli (1938-2008), whose spirit lives on in the exhibition catalogue “Lo Sguardo di Ulisse”.

Wine Mythology Label: competition info

In 2014, Domìni Veneti launched an international competition in a bid to find a design for its Wine Culture Centre. The competition, which was run in association with Young Architects Competitions (YAC) and the Order of Verona Architects, was a huge success, attracting 430 entries from more than 80 countries. Domìni Veneti is now launching a brand new competition in an international quest for ideas that will promote design culture within the wine industry. “Wine Mythology Label” is promoted by COmpetitions for DEsigners (CODE), a global network of artists, designers and planners which uses competitions to seek out the very finest in design research.

Wine Mythology Label” is a tribute to Greek mythology, which gave wine-making its very own divinity: Dionysus. The competition also celebrates Odysseus, the quintessential hero portrayed in a bronze statue sculpted by Raffaella Robustelli that stands at the entrance of the winery.

The competition jury comprises top international experts from the world of graphics and design, including David Carson, a US designer and international guru of graphic design and visual communication. Also on the jury are Gambero Rosso journalist Lorenzo Ruggeri, and Daniele Accordini, the general director of Cantina Valpolicella Negrar and Domìni Veneti’s oenologist.

The competition is being run in partnership with UPM Raflatac and Grafical, and is looking for a design to turn into a Limited Edition label for Domìni Veneti’s Amarone.
